The casualty operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It also serves as Accident & Emergency (A&E) Department, Out-Patient Department (OPD) and as entry point for all the admission cases except for Antenatal Mothers in labour who go straight to labour ward for admission.
The staff are well equipped to handle Accidents, Gunshots, Disaster Management, Poisoning, Malaria, Pneumonia, Typhoid, Non-Communicable and Communicable Diseases among others. The casualty handles 35 patients per day on average.
Each shift is manned by clinical officers, nurses and support staffs. Medical officer also attend to patient during the day and are on call from 5 p.m. and over the weekends. Care is provided by a team of medical officers, gynaecologist, and nurses of different cadres and support staff. The staff undergo regular training to ensure their skills and knowledge are up to date.
The OPD Services
All OPD patients are issued with a patient's record number upon paying consultation fee. The nurse then takes the weight and notes vital signs before directing the patients to the clinicians.
All OPD services are paid for beforehand. The services includes laboratory services, dressings, Maternal Child Health (MCH), X-Ray, Ultra - Sound and Drugs. Corporate clients are however billed for later payment.
